DAcademy Challenge 1 Entry

Description

Entry for Deviant Academy Biweekly Challenge #1, consisting in taking a 2-3 years old drawing (from November 2007 in this case) and redrawing it.

So yeah, a drawing from 2007, you won't see me digging those very often. That was basically when I started drawing seriously, before I even had my first tablet. It was drawn on a A3 format paper (that was a first, I always drew on A4), sketched with pencils and inked with pen. I won't go over all that I find fishy about this old drawing, because that would be freakin' too long, but still that was rather good for that time.

As for the new version, gave a try at a setting and... regretted it T_T Now that this is done, I'm just wondering how the hell I'm going to color it. I'll probably give it a try later, I don't have the time nor skills to do it yet.

Hi, I'm from your critique group!

What I like here especially is your use of a background, and your application of line thickness techniques. This just adds a new depth to the picture.

As for areas to improve, I would recommend studying anatomy and physiology (Or just practicing different poses yourself). I realize that this is a manga style, and as such, it's noticeable that the character's anatomy is altered somewhat. However, anatomy can help in any field of art. May I recommend trying some different styles to practice? If you only try one style of art, you will only grow in that area - if you practice with other styles, you may find you like more than one thing! The plusside to doing this - whatever you learn in trying other styles, especially realism, you can apply to your manga-style art!
